A current New Zealand or overseas licence.
Yes, professional instruction will start with the basics such as seating, steering and looking in the right direction.
If the basics are missed it will be that much harder to learn to drive safely leading to frustration and nervousness.
You might also be taught someone else's bad habits which will need correcting later, requiring even more professional lessons.
The current restricted and full licence tests are comprehensive and require extensive driving knowledge, experience and confidence. Driving too slowly, too fast,
without sufficient confidence or over confidence can lead to test termination. Normally it only takes a 1.5 lesson to ascertain skill in all areas required for the test.
After the lesson we can tell you what areas to work on, if there are any.
It all depends on the learner driver.
The average is about 10 lessons. NZTA recommends 120 hours of driving before sitting the restricted licence.
On average, after the first 5 or 6 lessons you will be ready to practice with a coach.
A coach is anyone who has held their full licence for a minimum of two years and can be family or friends.
Additional lessons are then scheduled to maintain learning momentum and fine tune the skills required to pass the restricted test.
It all depends on the driver. If the skills required to pass the restricted test have been maintained and practiced then normally not many.
60 minute lessons Monday to Saturday are $85.00 each.
If the lesson is to cover instruction for which there are no suitable local roads,
for example open road driving and some intersection types, then maximum benefit is achieved with a 1.5 or double lesson.
Yes. Sharon is our driving instructor.
We do initial lessons in our dual control automatic car. This saves every ones time, money and frustration.
To save time, money and frustration we highly recommend doing the initial lessons in our dual control automatic car.
Once competent we encourage you to use your own car so you are familiar with it for the test.
The only restriction on driving a manual car is when you are on a restricted licence and you sat the restricted test in an automatic.
The only exemption to this is when you are supervised by a coach. A coach is anyone who has held their full licence for a minimum of two years.
If you are going to be driving a manual on your restricted licence then you will need to sit the restricted test in a manual.
Once you have your full licence there is no restriction on driving a manual car.
Sharon is happy to teach in your own manual as long as you are already a competent driver. Being a competent driver before learning manual
saves a lot of time and frustration. Once competent, it is usually only 1 or 2 lessons to be proficient in a manual.
Each test area has several test routes and we don't know where they all are.
Our goal is to make you a competent driver capable of driving safely on the road and capable of handling the situations you will be faced with during the licence test.
During instruction you will be using some of the roads in some test areas as well as numerous other roads around the North Shore and Auckland city.
The roads we use have been chosen because of the road and traffic conditions. These include various intersections, roundabouts, traffic lights, motorway merging and exiting, generally all situations you may encounter when driving.
We won't just take you around the test routes and teach you to just 'pass the test'.
We are generally flexible about start and end locations, if you have particular pickup and drop off locations please let us know when booking the lesson.
